Sheikh Hamdan launches Dh1 billion International Space Cooperation Programme
New initiative strengthens research, development and advanced technology localisation efforts
DUBAI – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the launch of a Dh1 billion International Space Cooperation Programme aimed at accelerating progress in the national space sector.
The initiative was introduced during a meeting of the Supreme Space Council under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of the Supreme Space Council.
It focuses on advancing research and development, strengthening international collaboration, and localising cutting-edge space technologies. The programme also places strong emphasis on developing Emirati talent to play an active role in shaping the future of the industry.
Space push
The Dh1 billion programme is positioned as a key driver in reinforcing the UAE’s long-term strategy to build a knowledge- and innovation-based economy. It seeks to expand scientific research capacity and deepen partnerships within the global space community, enabling the country to strengthen its standing among leading spacefaring nations.
